Former NTSB Chairman, of Chattanooga, Speaks Out on Deadly Plane Crash on "Good Morning America"

Tue., Feb. 17th, 2009
A Chattanooga resident, who's considered a leading expert on crisis management, government relations, and transportation safety and security is making world news again.

This morning, "Good Morning America" featured former head of the National Transportation Safety Board, Jim Hall in an interview with ABC correspondent Lisa Stark. Hall, who has spoken to NewsChannel 9 on a number of occasions, spoke to an ABC news crew last night about last week's deadly plane crash in New York.

Investigators plan to remove the engines from the crash site of Flight 3407 today. They want to determine whether the plane was intact when it crashed into a house near Buffalo last week, killing 50 people.

Investigators say turbo-props are just as safe as other planes. But, Hall is more cautious, saying "The FAA should take action to ground these planes until the NTSB investigation is complete."

Hall was nominated by former President Bill Clinton to the NTSB in 1993, became the Board's chairman in 1994 and led the Board through January 2001.

Today, Hall resides on Signal Mountain and serves as an adviser to governments and private clients on a number of issues, including transportation safety and security.
